The Senators want this to be a weekend celebration of the game and what they have planned should allow for that to happen.
The Senators will hold a Red and White Alumni game and league sources say the concept they’re working on at the moment would see Team Alfie (Daniel Alfredsson) vs. Though all the details haven’t been finalized, ideally Alfredsson, the most prolific player in franchise history who had his No. 29th, would lead one alumni team while Phillips, who holds the record for the most games in the club’s history with 1,179, would head up the other.
“He was looking for an excuse to come back.”That explanation didn’t seem to satisfy the NHL’s justice department.“Wednesday night in Detroit, the unsportsmanlike conduct of Matthew Tkachuk sparked a series of altercations between the Flames and Red Wings,” the video says.
“During a TV timeout after a fight, Red Wings forward Luke Witkowski is being escorted to the Wings’ dressing room by an official.
This is unsportsmanlike conduct”The NHL’s rulebook calls for an automatic 10-game suspension for any player who returns to the ice after being ordered to the locker- room, and the league confirmed Thursday that Witkowski will cool his jets for that extended period.
The Flames were irked that Witkowski — an experienced scrapper — challenged Brett Kulak to a fight after the 23-year-old defenceman roughed up David Booth along the boards.
Kulak obliged, dropping the mitts for his first bout at the NHL level.
Tkachuk skates past him to verbally confront him and tracks Witkowski from behind as he leaves the playing surface.
With Witkowski heading towards the dressing room under the escort of an official, Tkachuk reaches out with his stick and slashes Witkowski, inciting a fight on the ice.
